I've been going back and forth about whether this is something I want to try at home. Maybe when the weather warms up a bit I'll see about getting some entry level equipment and giving it a shot. This really needs to be done outdoors or with a robust exhaust system right?
I prefer to do it in my garage more for the sound than the smell. I use a cheaper Nesco roaster and with my exhaust fan on my stove on it isnt bad indoors. It really depends on your roaster.

Same here. My wife doesn't mind the coffee over cigars. She will grab some random coffee when I am low, But cigars.... NO WAY!

I do mine inside lately. I don't need to run the exhaust fan. I do it in the Am while the wife is asleep, she doesn't hear it. I love the smell.
