I believe the Blazers used to be produced in the U.S. of A. but have moved to a Chinese production which might explain your problems even though they have a good reputation with many.

Originals were always produced in Japan as a soldering tool for precision work (think jewelry).

I have a bunch of Blazers I bought in mid 90s and they all still work without a hitch. Perhaps OP is not filling them right? I cannot imagine Blazers failing. But then again, I have never had any issues with Colibris, either, so...
