The old standby... go with a 50/50 mix of champagne and orange juice. Champagne for the celbration and a little orange juice to make it a mimosa. Easy to drink... not likely to mess you up (unless you kill a whole bottle) and classy. Serve chilled in a champagne flute. Garnish with a maraschino cherry for a sweet treat at the bottom of the glass.

Most whiskey's(scotch and bourbon) are an acquired taste. Those that are good for sipping straight are generally more expensive, it would be a shame to spend $30-100 on something you may not enjoy. Irish and Canadian whiskey's are generally more approachable. Maybe Jamesons or Bushmills Irish or Crown Royal Canadian.
Kahlua, Frangelica or Ameretto may be something your wife might enjoy. Why not try something your next trip out. Rather than invest in spirits that may just sit in the cupboard after trying a single drink. Bailey's Irish Creme is always a good standby as mentioned above. |
