It's an interesting concept for sure. But you are humidifying the interior wood areas right now, and that surface area will not chance with the amount of air space involved. If it's a big issue with humidity dropping off (cedar still absorbing a lot of humidity), make your own temporary humi-pack. Dampen a paper with DW (not soaked), put it inside a ziplock, leave the ziplock open. I always preferred this method to an open container of water inside my humi. I'm just way too apt to bumping my humi, or just being clumsy, and knocking the water over, thus bathing my cigars and humi in a mini-flood. With a dampened paper towel, no chance of that happening.
