Happy Birthday to The Universe, which was born on this date in the year 4977 B.C. according to the calculations of famed mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler. As that was a scientific investigation, it is little wonder it is more accurate than the one made by the Irish Archbishop of Armagh James Ussher, whose scholarly textual studies led him to deduce Creation as occurring at "the entrance of the night preceding the 23rd day of October the year before Christ 4004" . . . which does not even make sense inherently, as there could neither be night preceding the division between night and day, nor any date, or anything, preceding the 23rd.
Well, whatever. Point is, Kepler was closer to the current accepted date of 13.7 billion years ago. But as we have no date for The Big Bang, April 27th is as good a time as any other to celebrate the Birth of the Universe, so let's do so with vigor.
