Best shop/humidor you've visited?
I just got back from vacation in Destin, FL and went to a pretty nice cigar shop there (Harbor Cigars), anyways it got me wondering what all was out there? So what's the largest/ best in house selection store you've been to and where? It can really be anywhere , U.S. or Int. I'm just curious what all is out there and so I can find places to visit when I travel.

LCdH, Doha, Qatar. Only bad thing about it was I didn't know a damned thing about CCs when I was there. But I still was like a kid in a candy store.

Re: Best shop/humidor you've visited?
I've only been in one LCdH, and that was in San Pedro, Belize.
I have no idea why there were so few cigars, so few marcas represented, and so few years, but it was kind of a bummer. I literally had a far better selection at home, and outnumbered their cigars by 10 or 20 times. The store was nice, the owner was great, and I picked up a handful of smokes just because. I would LOVE to go to a big candy store LCdH. I just worry that I'd have to take out a second mortgage to pay for everything I dragged out of there.

Re: Best shop/humidor you've visited?
Havana Bob's in Cozumel. Not huge, but better than the sorry excuses for "cigar shops" in my town. Plus Bob and his wife were extremely knowledgable and friendly and helped me pick out some awesome smokes.
Really wish I had a decent cigar shop close by. The two closest to me used to be ok but ever since Colorado made recreational marijuana legal, they started catering to that crowd. Humidors are dwindling and pipe/bong collection is growing. I really don't care about the later part, just wish they wouldn't forget about their cigar smoking patrons.

Getting back to reality where one doesn't have to "travel" to one of these great "cc" B&M', I was thinking more along the lines of Maximar Ultimate Cigars in Orange, CA (the online shop is Small Batch Cigars). It is a great NC candy store that stocks everything. Hell of a walk-in humidor and plenty of seating to kick back and smoke.
I've heard about that shop

Re: Best shop/humidor you've visited?
For US based B&M look no further than Fumare in Reno. Dion's home shop and home base of Illusione cigars. I have been to a few high end B&Ms in Panama like Ron y Tobaccos, and El Mundos de Tobaccos which offer a nicely different selection, but honestly besides what they are selling the shops aren't as nice as Dion's.

Cigars International in Hamburg PA. HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF STOGIES this place was incredible. a 4000sqft humidor warehouse, with an upstairs lounge. Were talking 40ft ceilings boys, wall to wall cigars. All humidified. It was as if, for a moment, I was sent to heaven. Then brutally resuscitated afterwards, as I walked back out to the parking lot, $200 well spent from my wallet.

Re: Best shop/humidor you've visited?
Best Habanos shop outside of Cuba (or maybe Cuba included) is Cigar Divan at Regent Hotel in Singapore. Every cigar since Castro including all the books and humidors are available either by the box or singles. Every critic and cigar journalists makes this a cigar rite of passion. As important a visit to any Habanos smoker as going to Havana.
Portmann's & Gerard (Swiss), and P.G.C. Hajenius (Dutch) are all top notch European stores worth going to (that I have visited). There's a few big names in UK, but haven't been so I won't mention them by name.

Re: Best shop/humidor you've visited?
For a mega shop - Coronas in Orlando is hard to beat in sheer numbers of cigars - they boast over million sticks. The atmosphere and accompanying attitudes there, however suck.
I prefer nice, much smaller local B & M,s where you are a regular. They have a limited, but quality selection, comfy seats, sports channel and the crowd remembers you by name. That's Ol Times in Casselberry, FL and Tobacco Locker in North Port Charlotte, FL. |
