Intemperance Avarice
Short review on the RC short robusto 4 1/2 x 52 Avarice. Kept in my small cedar humidor at 66%rh, not aged. I deserve a 'told you so' for smoking this one so soon since it was only a couple of weeks out of a freshly opened box from the local B&M. Really nice, dark stick with a promising mild pre-light aroma of expresso and damp earth. Draw was tighter than I like throughout. Torching was easy and burn was good. First taste was surprisingly bold with bitter expresso and leather. A good start. The flavor quickly moved to muddled and then very mild and kind of green. Initially, I used a punch and then tried a straight cut to improve the draw, but not much success. About mid way, the stick became soft and after lightly rolling the head, both draw and flavor improved for a while. Unfortunately, that did not last.
Final thought is this stick likely needs some time resting and will mellow. There was some irritation in the back of the throat, which will probably disappear with aging. This is a mild cigar no doubt, but shows good promise. Have some others (perfectos) which were kindly dropped upon me on a bombing run that will have a nice long sleep in the main wineador! I look forward to enjoying them in about a year. Fresh & green...they are OK. After some rest...anticipate . RR |

Re: Intemperance Avarice
If you remember to, post an update in a year; I'd like to hear about the changes.
