Default Need some help for networking in my house

So, I think it's only by luck that I was able to hook up a wireless router and get it to work for my laptop. I've not been so lucky getting my wireless bridges to work with my ReplayTV's(much like Tivo, but ReplayTV is also capable of streaming shows from one unit to another and you can send/receive shows...kinda like a napster of sorts). Anyway, I have a host of stuff I want to connect to the net at the locations (X marks the spot) in the layout attached here.

On the first floor:

Living Room-This is the location the DSL modem/Linksys router is located. Router is hardwired to my desktop PC. DSL modem is a Speedstream 5100. Router is a Linksys WRT54G.

Family Room-I intend to hook up a ReplayTV and a Nintendo Wii in here.

Master Bedroom-I intend to hook up a ReplayTV, PS3, and my Directv HD/DVR receiver.

What are my best options to have connections in both of these locations with the streaming options for gaming/tv streaming???

What would be a much faster router than what I have? Like I said, I'm a dummy. What will I need at the locations where I'm trying to run my ethernet connections?

I think running a cable would be a big PITA. That's why I'm trying to do it wireless.

Running a lanline line isn't bad depending on the type of house. Wifi is easier but I don't know about combining all that other stuff you wanna do or ReplyTV.

There really are not any better choices as those devices are not N which would support higher speeds... Hard wiring as many as possible is your best option. The Wii is really easy to hook up to the wireless...

Ditto. If you have an older house that has drop ceilings or an unfinished basement that you can run wire through it is a piece of cake. A box of 1000 ft of CAT5e will run you about $80 at home depot, get a cheap-o RJ-45 punch tool and some wall plates and you are in business.

I'm on a slab, so obviously hardwiring to the family room is virtually impossible I think. I'm not really feeling "it" as far as removing drywall upstairs and drilling through the 2x4's to hardwire from downstairs and upstairs.

I got ya.

Maybe a Powerline system? If that is enough bandwidth for you...

No need, he already has a WRT-54G...

I would advise just to get everything going using what you have. If anything it might be better to move the DSL and Router into the family room so you can hardwire those devices and put the rest wireless...

Yea, I saw that but he went on to say he was having a hard time getting the wireless bridge to play nice with the replay TV, I thought he might have better luck with that system.

But your idea is a good one, if the OP is able to move the wireless router to same room as the one replay TV, but what about the second one?
