Default Beginner Guitar?

Just traded some smokes for a like new guitar (See pic below) Just wondering if anyone had any helpful links to a good website for picking up the fundamentals? I was told to check out youtube but it really wasn't getting me anywhere. I know nothing atm so anything would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

I play drums, guitar and bass.. question is: What kind of music do you see yourself playing? Blues? Metal? Rock?

Picking up the fundamentals you also want to know ahead of time how you want to express yourself.. I've never taken any lessons in my life and learned it by myself. Only later on did I pick up techniques and such. I can recommend looking into the DVD set made by Michael Angelo Batio: http://www.metalmethod.com/speedkills2010/index.htm

And for beginners it'd be enough to learn the technical know-how with some simple DVDs such as this one:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/books...ric-guitar-dvd

You will face a lot of frustration but practice is key, be stubborn, don't overcomplicate things and most importantly, don't go too fast. Don't go shredding with speed and play the notes half assed. Go slow. Once your picking is exact, only then try going faster with more complicated tunes. Good luck on your path.

Youtube is an excellent source...as well as tablature books (that's how I taught myself to play).

An excellent tab program is Guitar Pro to play each note in sequence with the song. A good site for finding the songs you might be looking for is here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/

You'll find a lot of sites no longer carry tabs and such because it was deemed "pirated" for some reason or another.
