Default What to do in Cincinnati

Hello everyone,

The wife and I want to get away for a very quick weekend trip. We have been talking about going to cincinnati for awhile as it is very close and a couple place we would both like to go. We plan to come down on friday afternoon/night and leave sunday. We are looking for good places to eat or check out while we are there. Looking for non chain restaurants. Here are some ideas we have on the list already.

-The Party Source (Free.... Kinda )
-Jungle Jims
-Ikea
-Newport Aquarium (Anyone been? is it worth the $23 per person?)
-Terrys Turf Club? Looked good on TV

Thanks for any help in advance

Though it has been several years, we used to head for the Skywalk in downtown, and hang out and see what we could see. Good places to eat and drink and shoot pool or watch games. We always enjoyed it.

We could set up a herf on a Sat if you'd like at the Beer Sellar in Newport. Aquarium IS worth it. Newport on the Levee has plenty of good eateries. So does downtown. TPS and JJs would be a good hour from each other. Where are you planning to stay? A riverboat cruise is also fun- and they have several that include very nice meals. Depending on the w/e you could catch a Reds game. There are also cultural things to do like the symphony, museums, etc; depending on what you like. You need to have Montgomery Inn ribs and Cinci chili at least once at Skyline or Gold Star.

Dining:
Hofbrauhaus Newport - If you enjoy large mugs of beer, german style food and dancing on tables
Jeff Ruby's Steakhouse Downtown - If you want a pricey dinner, but one of the best steaks you will ever eat.
Montgomery Inn on the River - If you want to have some pretty good, sit-down style, barbeque at a pretty good price.
Graeters Ice Cream - Doesn't matter where you eat, this is your dessert location of choice.

Places to see:
Ikea? - Unless you have something you are specifically planning on buying, that place will make you want to run straight into a wall. It sounds cool, but is like a giant maze with no exit.

Jungle Jims is off 75 near Ikea, and The Party Source is in Newport near the Hofbrauhaus. If you have the time to do both, its definitely worth the walk thru both. Hide your wallet though.

Newport Aquarium is a nice place to stop, especially if you have kids. Its clearly not Shedd's, but for it location, they have lots of nice exhibits.

The Art Museum is free admission and they have some very nice pieces on display.

Places for a drink:
Morlein Lager House - Not sure when you are coming or when it is supposed to be open, but I have heard this is going to be a very nice venue
Beer Sellar Newport - 60 beers on tap, 125 bottles and full liquor
Hofbrauhaus - See above

You can never have too many cigars, they are like an investment in good times.

Hofbräuhaus! Cross the bridge from Cinci real quick over to KY.

It's not like at home but it's a good substitute, I love that place!
