Casa Magna Domus Magnus.
This wont be a long review as this was a truly appalling cigar.
After reading a bit about this 5000 box LE "full bodied flavourful" cigar i went in expecting something half good even if it made me a bit nicsick. What i got was disappointing to put it lightly there is no thirds to this review im afraid it's only change was for the worst. Construction was pretty good no soft spots a semi decent cap bit sloppy though and the draw was a bit loose. Pre light gave me tobacco and a slight chemical taste. Now after lighting all the taste i got was a mild-medium at best toasty tobacco and by the last three inches even that would fade to nothingness and about half way through the 3 inches i smokes i got a peanut flavour that looking back was nice even though i hate peanuts but after a while that too dissipated. I ended up throwing it with a good two and a half inches left as it turned from boring to flavourless boring. The real kicker is my pint of chiswick bitter a light golden ale was overpowering with this smoke. |

Sorry you had that experience. I have enjoyed them very much. They also did like you mentioned get lots of good reviews. I know one of the things they were after when they made this cigar is to not have too much of that signature nicaraguan spiciness common in their cigars. Curious about the chemical taste. Perhaps it was the storage conditions it was in at the store you purchased it from?

I've only smoked one of these and although I didn't get any chemical taste, I found it to be thoroughly underwhelming.

Re: Casa Magna Domus Magnus.
Without a pic I can't tell which one this is, but I had the one that Cigar Aficionado had top 25 (the 60-ring figurado with a pigtail) and did not like it. The first inch or so was interesting, sort of; then it was just very one-dimensional.
60 x 7 is a long damn time to be bored.

Re: Casa Magna Domus Magnus.
I've had this cigar and thought it was one of the best new releases I had last year, and way better than the one on ca's top 25.

Re: Casa Magna Domus Magnus.
Judging by the size i believe it was the primus it defiantly wasn't a perfecto though.

Re: Casa Magna Domus Magnus.
I never got into any of the Casa Magnas, but I do have one of these floating around that I haven't smoked yet. I'll have to see if I pick up any chemical flavors.
