Baitfish Logo theft?
Let me preface this by saying I love DE sticks, including the MUWAT. With that said, I also love Dogfish Head beers.
Last night, I'm enjoying a beer by Dogfish when I happen to notice that the logo looks eerily like one of the logos on my newest cigars to hit my humi. So I walk to the humi and pull the package out to find this: I look back at the bottle and see this: Now I'm questioning if I'm crazy, or if Drew Estates setting themselves up for a legal issue. I would hate to see either party lose money on lawyers, as I love both of their products. So, what do you all think? |

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
While similar I don't see an issue, one is beer, one is cigars so I doubt anyone would confuse the two even if there was an issue, I think it's non issue, but who knows.

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
Great products, both. While I agree that the logos have similar layouts, they are different enough (color, fish species, wording) that they shouldn't have issues. Could a case be brought against the second to market? of course. In my opinion, it would be without merit.
As the old saying goes, "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
Thats what I'm hoping to hear. I'm not trying to instigate anything by bringing it up, just trying to rest my head knowing that there won't be problems for anyone.

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
I don't think they are even really similar. 2 different fish obviously, different logo shape, different color, different lettering, different products. If they were similar products I would say it was getting borderline to be a rip off but I just don't see it as it stands.

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
The only similarities I see are a circle/oval and a fish facing the same direction. If they were both cigar companies I would question it but since they are not I don't have a problem with it, not that my opinion matters.

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
I don't think it would present an issue. As everyone ahead of me said, they're different enough.

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
You have the silhouette of a shark in a oval advertising beer, and a detailed drawing of small fish in a circle advertising cigars. Different fonts, fish, color, design and so on. I fail to see a whole lot of similarities

The way I see it, different fish, different layout, different name.

Re: Baitfish Logo theft?
Dogfish Head is a jut of land off the Maine coast. The beer is not named after a fish. Just some info that I guess really has nothing to do with this
