Life is a series of moments
I found out yesterday that my Grandfather had passed away.
This was a sad day for me, I left work early so I could spend some time mourning and reflecting on his life and what he meant to all of us. I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate his life than to smoke a cigar I have been saving for a reason I did not know. In his honor and to reflect on him and my family, I grabbed a smoke and took a walk to a local semetary during a mild rain. This may all seem a bit morbid to some but for me it all just made sense and seemed right. I feel so much better today and am thankful my Grandfather was able to live a long life and impact all of my family in a positive way. Although I have regrets about not seeing him for a couple years, I am thankful my wife got to spend some time with him a couple weeks ago when she took a trip to California. Like the thread title says: "Life is a series of moments, some good some bad, I am thankful that taking a moment and smoking a cigar helped me to take some time out of my stressful day and deal with this emotional situation in a wonderful way". I will be receiving my Grandfathers beer stein collection and will treasure it always, he was a great man! Rest in peace Henry Smith, you were loved and will never be forgotten! Thanks for listening, I hope you enjoy the pics of my "moment":

Re: Life is a series of moments
Thanks soo much everybody!
I hope I didn't make this seem like a thoughts/prayers thread. I really just wanted to share how smoking a good cigar can be an important "moment" in your life. I am very thankful to everybody here for kicking me down the slope of this magical hobby! I never would have guessed that cigar smoking would become important to me! Great gesture, that is too kind! Thanks so much!

Condolences on your loss Shane. Sometimes the best part of a good cigar is the time you have during it to stop and reflect.

Re: Life is a series of moments
Sorry for your loss Shane. Living in Tampa at the time when my grandfather passed I was full of remorse for not seeing much of him. I wasn't able to even make the funeral in Pittsburgh. That sometimes still bothers me. Everyone deals with lifes tragedies in different ways. You did what you knew best and that is more than enough. Take care bro....

I thought that's the part some people may find morbid When I was trying to think of the "perfect smoke" that jumped out and bit me I knew it was the one!

I could go to a local cemetery too, but I wonder if I'd get in trouble hanging out smoking a cigar there. It's a cool cemetery, there's a really old part of it that's pretty cool. Not as old as the east coast lots but they had tombstones dated back to the late 1800s. |

If you are comfortable with the idea of sitting in a semetary I say go for it. Just make sure you eat first
