Default 1st time to Maui & Oahu. Any good B&Ms?

Been working way to much O/T the last year and a half so I'm heading to the islands to relax.

I'll only be in Oahu (Pearl Harbor, etc.) around 30 hours or so, but I'll be in Maui around 12 days.

Are there any must see B&Ms in Maui and Oahu?

Are there any smoking laws that I should know about?

Can I smoke on the beach?

Thanks for any help and info.

Oahu you should check out Tobacco's of Hawaii. Great shop with a big selection. Tamura's Fine Wine also has a good selection of cigars.

I second Tamura's As far as smoking- on the beach is fine. Can't smoke inside anywhere except look up Kelly O'Neal's on Cigar Afficianado. They are down in Waikiki and ignore the smoking laws for cigars

Stands for "Brick & Mortar" (in a building), ie; a retail cigar shop.

Sir Wilfed's in Lahaina, on front street, has a good selection. You can't smoke within 20 feet of a door or window

I would suggest bringing your own sticks. Sir Wilfred's here on Maui has a decent selection, but is WAY overpriced ($30-35 for Opus X). As for smoking, not within 20 feet of any public enclosed or partially enclosed spaces or entrances. Smoking is best done on the beach or at private houses. Depending on the dates you are here, perhaps we could join up for a smoke? Shoot me a PM if interested. Also, happy to answer any other questions about activities and places to stay.

Danny, Jay, and the rest of the gang on Maui will definetly make you feel welcome. I never miss a chance to hang out with them every trip I make.

I want to thank everyone for the information and offers.

It would be great to meet some Maui BOTL!

We will be staying in South Kihei.

We arrive tomorrow (Friday 9/23) around 12:30 pm and head back home Friday 10/7/11 which gets me home in time for the Oktoberfest.

This is the first time my wife and I have been to the Islands so I'm not sure what to expect.

So far the only firm plans are reservations for Warren and annabelles and catching a flight to Oahu next Tue-Wed to see Pearl Harbor.

I plan on snorkeling and maybe catching the sunrise at Haleakala. I get up for work at 3:00 am everyday which works out to be midnight Maui time so it will be a snap for me,but I may have some trouble convincing the Misses so I'll try to sweeten the pot with a horseback ride into the crater

By the way: One of the guys at work is trying to talk me into going to "Little Beach" on Sunday evening, but I keep getting the feeling that he is up to something. So whats up with Little Beach?

Thanks again
Ken

Its often times a nude beach. Careful if you decide to go bodysurfing there or at "big beach". Many in the know advise it can be very dangerous and lots of folks have been hurt there.

Great snorkeling at Honolua Bay up above Kapalua. Take a day drive to Hana if you like beautiful rain forests.

Thanks for the info:

I'll be doing some snorkeling, but I have 2 bulged and 2 herniated discs so I'll need to pass on the body surfing.

I'm just 26 steps from my condo to Kama'ole II beach, so I'll be snorkeling there tomorrow morning, but I plan on hitting Honolua Bay up and Kapalua before I leave Maui and Hana is also on the short list as well.

Thanks for your help.

If you do the drive to Hana, be sure and either go, or come back, by the gravel road that loops around the southwest side of the island. It's a long drive, but well worth it. You'll come back out on pavement somewhere on the northwest, bottom slopes of Haleakala, if memory serves correctly. We really enjoyed this drive, and there was not nearly as much traffic on this side.

I plan on making the whole Hana loop and after everything that I've heard about not being able to take rental cars on the Road to Hana, I was surprised not to find anything about it in the rental agreement.

I'm also planning on watching the sunrise on Haleakala before I head back home.

Thanks for the information.
