La Ribera edicion especial robusto
La Ribera is a Nicaraguan budget brand which usually sells cigars in bundles but these 5x50 La Ribera Edicion Especial is also available as a single for a € 3 price here in The Netherlands. The cigar is distributed my The Longfiller Company.
The band is simple, as you would expect from this brand and the wrapper has a latte color with some long thing veins. The cigar is nicely shaped and has a mild barnyard smell. The construction feels great, and the wrapper turns out to be thicker than expected. The predraw is a bit tight and the flavors are from peppery tobacco, quite spicy. I taste coffee with pepper and some sweetness. On the background I taste quite a lot of wood. After half an inch the coffee disappears and I taste wood with cork, mild and herbal. The sweetness gets a bit stronger with some cedar and cork. On the background I taste herbs. After an inch I taste something sweet with a little bit of citrus, nutmeg, toast and cedar. The flavors are delicate. Little past the half I taste a strong and spicy cinnamon with support from herbs and a mild sweetness. After three quarters the cigar gets quite spicy. The cigar lasted me an hour. The draw was a bit tight and I got a reasonable amount of smoke which could have been thicker though. The ash is quite dark and firm. This mild to medium flavoured and mild to medium bodied cigar has a little bit of a crooked burn. Would I buy this cigar again? Yes I will Appearance: 7 / 10 Construction: 8 / 10 Draw: 7 / 10 Burn: 7 / 10 Smoke & ash: 7 / 10 Aroma first part: 7 / 10 Aroma second part: 8 / 10 Aroma third part: 7 / 10
