if you take the wrapper off it exposes the binder and the stick falls apart....

Most don't. Simply better protection and the Cellophane breathes.

The cello wrapper keeps the humidity more constant. The cigars internal RH will not change as much if you keep these wrappers on. Also, it protects the cigar from any box damage that might occur to naked cigars.
