Default Gurkha beauty

Back in the day when the ocean was still a jungle and I was a newbie, I took part in the Newbie Sampler Trade and got paired up with Massphatness. He send me a great sampler and amongst them there were a Gurkha Beauty and a Gurkha Beast. Due to my previous experiences with Gurkha I always skipped those whenever I was browsing my collection, looking for something to smoke, but I could not pass them anymore, I owe it to Vin to smoke these and as always write a review, so I smoked both. The review of the Beast has been posted before, this is the review of the Beauty.

This cigar isn't as pretty as the Gurkha Beast, the color is pale brown instead of nice and dark. The wrapper has some veins and it's not oily. The construction feels good and after punching I got a nice predraw. I taste some wood while I smell a mild hay aroma.

I taste a sweet, somewhat musty, wood with a spicy aftertaste. The strength of the flavors are medium.

After an inch and a half I still taste the same flavors, there is no progress at all. After ⅔ the aftertaste becomes a bit more spicy, but that is the only change in flavors I get.

Smoke time is 90 minutes. I got enough smoke that is reasonably thick. The ash is light gray and quite firm. The draw and burn are good. Just like the beast, this cigar is producing a huge flame while purging. This cigar is mild to medium flavored and medium bodied.

Would I buy this cigar again? I will have to say no, just like I said with the Beast

Appearance: 7 / 10
Construction: 7 / 10
Draw: 7 / 10
Burn: 8 / 10
Smoke & ash: 7 / 10
Aroma first part: 6 / 10
Aroma second part: 6 / 10
Aroma third part: 6 / 10

Nice review, Ferdie! People seem to love Gurkhas or hate them but I've never read an objective review of one before.

Thnx. I am in the "hate them" camp, only had one that i sort of liked, the "master select" if I remember correctly.

That definitely seems to be the case with these. I haven't formed a 100% solid position on them yet, but I seem to be favoring "hate them".
