Default Poker Comes to Maui

I had the extreme pleasure of getting to meet and smoke a cigar with Kelly (poker) the other night. He was on vacation here in Maui and able to come meet up with our regular herf crew. What an incredible guy! He brought cigars for everyone, Cubita coffee (which is amazing) and Cigar Asylum hats to pass around. We had a great time and got to learn a lot about cigars, especially aged and rarer Cubans. It was a real pleasure getting to meet such a great BOTL and I really hope to be able to host some more herfs whith members of this board. I think Kelly managed to push some of our crew over the fence to sign up here too.

I have to share that Kelly gave me the absolute best cigar of my life. I have smoked many cigars that have been great, and have developed a palate for certain tastes in a cigar. I like cigars that are creamy, smooth, and mild with grassy and earthy flavors, I like cigars that are stout, full flavored and rich and a range in between. Until the other night, I was under the impression that these flavor profiles were to be found seperately in different blends. If you want the mild, smooth and creamy flavor, smoke a LGC, for the rich full flavored cigars, smoke a Partagas or Monte. Kelly gave me a cigar that took every single one of my favorite flavors and put it into one cigar.

It started out smooth and creamy, on the mild side and very enjoyable. As I smoked it continued to pick up flavor throughout and evolved into a full flavored, ultra smooth and rich flavor that I absolutley loved. Along the way, it threw in flavors that I had no idea could be found in a cigar, a hint of citrus on a nose exhale, a flavor that reminded me of a rich red wine popped in, and a host of other flavors that I cannot put names to. Kelly thank you for this amazing cigar and for all your generosity. The cigar:

I am sorry it took me so long to finally meet up with a member of the board, it was a real pleasure to meet and talk story with such a great person. Hopefully it will not be so long until I can have another member here join us for a herf...whose coming to Maui next?
