Default MRE recall

If you are someone who stocks up on MREs (meal ready to eat), be advised that there is a recall over possible salmonella contamination. I can't find a definitive source, just a lot of people posting press releases and such that are organization specific.

Here is the google string I used, if you want to check yourself.

Department of Defense Hazardous Food & Nonprescription Drug Recall System MRE

True. But it's only for the shake mix- toss the shake mix and the rest is fine.

This info came to me through military channels.

DO NOT CONSUME operational ration Dairyshake Powder until further notice. Consumers/end users should remove and destroy the Dairyshake Powder in a manner to ensure it will not be accidentally consumed. The remainder of the MRE/UGR-E menu is consumable and should not be discarded/destroyed.
There you go.

I always thought the shakes were to be used as laxatives anyway. I can honestly say the few times I have been hungry enough to eat the shake I have ended up bubble guts. And there isn't enough t-pee in the whole case for that.

I remember getting mad in basic training because they mermited chow out and we would't be getting MREs. How quickly I learned!! For 4 months in Somolia it was MREs and warm water...MMMMMMM!!!
