Default Bucanero Z Churchill review

This is a very appetizing-looking stick, tightly box pressed with a light brown Sumatran wrapper. The pre-light aroma was light and mild, with promising hints of savoriness.

The first few puffs had a faint note of cocoa and spice. As the burn progressed, the predominant notes were pleasantly woodsy and almost creamy. There was a hint of sweetness and spice with a delicious savory aftertaste. I have to admit that I was actually licking the wrapper on this one, which is not something I normally do.

The burn and draw were perfect, and the ash held firm and cool through most of the smoke. Towards the end of the cigar, it developed a bit more spice, but the light creaminess and woodsiness continued to be the dominant notes all the way to the end.

This is a fairly mild to medium bodied cigar that still manages to be impressively rich, elegant and flavorful. This would be an ideal "dessert cigar" to pair with a tawny Port or sherry, or an excellent morning smoke.

In terms of flavor and structure, it reminds me of an older Cuban Fonseca. I've rarely smoked anything quite this tasty in the $4 price range. For the value, the Bucanero Z is going to be hard to beat. Herfergrrl gives this stick two thumbs up.

I smoked a Bucanero Z churchill tonight, and Tanith nailed it. This is a lovely cigar. Well constructed, perfect draw, box pressed. Very woodsy tasting on the prelight draw. The first inch was woodsy and sweet coffee. As the cigar progressed it became more spicy, but never lost it's sweetness and creaminess. The ash held firm for a third of the cigar. Everything about this cigar was a pleasure. When I return from my vacation next week I will definitely buy a bundle. Really top notch.
