Default Third Hand Smoking : Good Read

I set out to research "third hand smoking" a little more and the results I found were interesting to say the least. This seems to be a hot topic right now. It is a great tool for the "anti-smoking" propaganda.

The following link was one of the better articles reference "third hand smoking" and I thought it was an interesting read. It is a little long but not too bad. It is worth the 10 minutes IMHO. I feel it gives you some tools for your toolbox when we all are inevitably asked about the topic eventually.

I have been having trouble in finding any talk of "cigars" or "pipes" in relation to third hand smoking. Most of the references either deal with cigarettes or they throw a grenade out there with the term "smokers".

I would love to hear BOTL's thoughts on this issue.

Just seems to be more scare tactics by the anti-smoking nazis.

Now, we are being called outcasts. Don't stand near them, you'll die. Trying to make us feel like lepers.

I have asthma, although the cigars and pipes don't trigger problems (exercise does. no surprise to those who know me...) I got my attitude from smoking from my Dad. Went to the asthma specialist who told my Mom that my Dad had to quit smoking his pipe. She told him and he went into his room and smoked a pipe. And I am glad he did.

It's a fine line we walk. I, however, prefer to do my walking with a stick firmly entrenched bewteen my teeth.

It really is hard to know what to believe when there are competing studies of this stuff out there. The end result all depends on who's point of view paid for the study.

In the end, as with anything anymore in this country, it seems to be a tool to push a political view.

I don't smoke in my apartment. I smoke at the B&M or out on the balcony. But that is because of the stink of stale smoke that I don't want in my carpet and furniture. I don't believe for a second that smoking out on the balcony forever contaminates the wood, glass, and metal out there.

The B&M that I frequent has a great filtration system. The air is sucked up, and they supposedly have a total of 88 pounds of carbon in a filtration system in the ceiling. It never smells like nasty, stale smoke in there.

For the record, I only smoke cigars, not pipes.

One of the keys for me is that this has never even been proven, it is just a theory. People are taking it for a proven fact though.

Anymore though if you put something like this out there then everyone jumps on it b/c it supports the increasingly non-smoking agenda.

The "science" on second hand smoke is dubious at best, third hand is simply a joke. Unfortunatly in a culture that elected the current US president ( a smoker, although most of his voter's either don't know it or won't admit it) we need to take all these kook, junk science viewpoints seriously, because there are enough of those "true believers" who elected the current POTUS, who would also buy into this nonsense.
