Re: Carrying cheap smokes
Exactly what I did
Although if I know they'll truly enjoy a premium cigar I don't mind giving out something better. Brought a 5VGold and ended up giving him a Cohiba instead after he talked about smoking with his friends in the past. |

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
Instead of buying smokes for the sole purpose to give away, I would suggest buying cheaper cigars you enjoy yourself. Bring a few extra Short Stories, Oliva Serie V No4s, and Padron Londres. They are cheap enough to give away, short to prevent excess waste from those 2 puff and tossers, and tasty enough for both cigar lovers: old and new to enjoy.

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
Most of my friends don't smoke cigars. A few of them do but I usually either smoke at home, in the truck or at my local B&M. Occasionly some one will come over and have a drink and a smoke but I only break out something that I have at least two of so we are smoking the same thing. I love to share, but like some of you stated.. If they don't know anything about cigars or they have had too much to drink then they are getting something like a SS or one of them nasty floral smokes!

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
Well I lucked out and got the last LP9! They had the FFP too but I couldn't bring myself to buy it yet. I opted not to smoke the LP9 tonight though cause my allergies are bad and I wouldn't be able to taste much of it.

Maybe.
But yes brings more smiles, more friends, and hopefully, more BOTL.

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
To be honest, I find it kind of rude if someone 'asks' for a cigar, like in OP's case, and I wouldn't have a problem saying no, especially if all I had were $10 sticks that I haven't even smoked myself.
However, as mentioned above, it's a good way to make friends and results in a better conscience, so I would likely offer if I was smoking around someone to begin with. |

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
I normally don't mind handing a few out. All of the times I have, have been with family. I will not give them something I haven't tried yet though.
With it being family, it depends who it is and what they get.

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
I gladly would do it again as he is a stand up guy. I just wish I had a less expensive cigar to share and I will make a point to carry some in the future.
I ended up with both a LP9 and a Feral Flying Pig after going back to Fox last night and chatting with the manager about them a bit. |

I take the easy route and just cary a two finger case. Want a cigar? Sure next time I see you smoking I'll give you one. Guess what? 99% never see that person again.

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
I don't have a problem with giving a friend a good cigar, I just know in most cases they won't appreciate it anymore than a budget stick. In fact it seems most non-smokers I know enjoy an infused stick more than anything. The Legends Copper Label was a big hit this weekend thanks to Taki for unloading some of his infused stuff on some of my friends

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
I was on a snow trip a couple weeks ago with a small cache of CC and some NC's. I gave out a couple CC's to friends who have gave me quality sticks in the past and the one person who got an attitude about not getting a CC is always the guy who brings no food, drink or any contribution to get together's.I offered him his choice from the NC moochador too. Then he was trying to bum "puffs" off others cigars.
I have a 15ct traveldor coming (damn cbid). That will be stocked the quality tier fashion for future trips. |

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
I usually bring a few wallet friendly ($3-5) mild-med smokes with me that I enjoyed to give out to friends in hopes of converting them. For the very few friends i have that are cigar smokers, I will give them better stuff since I know they won't chuck it half way through and will actually enjoy them

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
I didn't mean to paint the guy in a negative light. He's a cool dude and not someone I would classify as a moocher. I was happy to share. He just isn't a cigar smoker really and I wished I had something less expensive to hand out. Lesson learned! I will get a larger traveldor!

Re: Carrying cheap smokes
I just bring my 30 everywhere...Just in case 29 people need to bum a cigar from me. I do have what I call the "brother-in-law tier" in there at all times in case whomever is the beneficiary of the cigar is not someone who would appreciate a great cigar.
