I grew up in NorCal and biscuits and gravy was a staple of my family. Granted we were Okies and Arkies only two generations before me.

Any decent truck stop diner should serve biscuits and gravy. Besides homemade, the second best B&G I ever had was from a truck stop.

was it down therrrr in texas?

the best i have ever had was in texas.. it was near tyler and lake palestine. we stayed at a condo on the lake and drove into town (aboot a freakin hour too). there was this old country store slash gas station (like two pumps), looked just like in the movies, the little gas station that is the last one for 100 miles!!

anyway, they had a small kitchen/dining area in the back of the store. there was a big arse sign above the counter that said "biscuits and gravy, fresh and made from scratch from 6:00 am till 11:30" or sumpin like that.
i must have spent $50 on B&G there! lol. destroyed like 3 plates right there and got 3 more to heat up the rest of the week.

OMFG so good!

i have to tell ya those people in there were weird as all heck! texas chainsaw massacre types all around! (but they cooked B&G like the gods!)

I’ve been to a few places like that in Arkansas and Mississippi, but not in Texas.

I'm from Stockton originally. Grandma and her sisters lived out in Linden and worked the cherry orchards when they were young.

I love regular gravy, but tomato gravy is THE best! I haven't had that in a while.

I made some B&G this weekend using this recipe, except I substituted H&H for heavy cream.

I make biscuits from scratch though. None of that Pilsbury BS.

Mmmmmmm.

I nom, nom, nomed these. They were delicious.

Try not to drool all over the keyboard, Jay.

That's what I am talking about! Nicely done, Double-L. And that looks like the right amount of pepper, too.

I don't salt my food, because I don't want high cholesterol (laugh it up, guys ), so I make up for it with pepper. I love pepper on my food.

It is so easy to get spoiled...

Venison sausage if you can get it. Made from scratch biscuits hot from the oven. And if you are really hungry add a couple of scrambled eggs to the plate and cover that with the gravy also.

this is my absolute favorite breaskfast and as Jay stated you cannot get a good meal of B&G here in Jersey. It's a sad affair. My mom makes a good B&G. Now that this post came up, it's time to make this for breakfast this weekend.

Now THAT looks like one great breakfast!!! I also like a pretty nice sprinkling of pepper, more so than the salt...and it looks like you did that plate just right. It also looks like you had some extra biscuits to sop up the gravy.

What time did you say breakfast was being served????
