Re: Mac's Apple Pie Shine
It's the cider you guys are using. I'm buying a fresh cider from a local farmers market here in Virginia. I'm assuming you guys are buying a grocery store cider, which is known for a longer shelf life, but more processed than the fresh stuff.

Re: Mac's Apple Pie Shine
I didn't use anything but clear liquids even the cider was clear, only one I could find actually.
As for storage of this stuff. Do I have to store it in the fridge. Was going to keep some of it in the same closet I keep a coolidor. It's dark and as cool as I can let it be, say highest around 80 in the summer. Will it be okay in there for some months?

Re: Mac's Apple Pie Shine
If I had used fresh cider I'd definitely agree. Gonna try for a while and see what happens since I used pasteurized preservative filled cider and juice.
Now another question. Found with tasting that the cinnamon was really good and a little high so didn't need to leave in the jars. You think I can save and reuse the sticks?

Re: Mac's Apple Pie Shine
I have one jar left in the fridge. Made a half batch a while ago, and accidentally used enough cinnamon for a full batch.
So, I cut it back down with apple juice, and add some vodka too kick the alcohol content back up. Still works good for me.

Mac, I made my first batch last night and finished her up today. We did a fair amount of yard work today and finished off passing the jar around. Everyone loved it. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.

Re: Mac's Apple Pie Shine
This may be a dumb question, but are you boiling your mason jars shut or just closing them by hand?
PS. thanks for sharing this, look forward to trying this real soon.
