The humidity here in Missouri kept it from drying out so it was smokeable Peter! Come on, you've never done this? Am I alone in this brothers?

Moisture has NOTHING to do with it. In fact I think it hurts.

I can let a cigar go for about 15 - 20 minutes and don't mind relighting it, after that though....
