Default Macanudo Cafe: Hyde Park

I've had this one sitting in my cooler since early october. This was one of the first smokes I've had. Looking it over, I notice the wrapper is immaculate. Small veins and no cracks or discolorations. It was firm all the way through but not hard. I decided to drink some gas station folgers coffee with this one. Some half&half and 2 packets of splenda are how I like it.

The pre-light draw was nutty and a little chocolately. No spice. After toasting the foot, I get a very flavorful nutty aroma. There are undertones of coffee here as well.

Tehre is a wavey burn pattern for the first inch or so. Also, some sort of gash in teh ash causing a dip in the burn of the wrapper and almost a hole in the cigar. i've never seen this in my entire two months of smoking! (LOL) the ash is very white and the finish is smooth and nutty..

the burn evened out by the 3/3 and the gash went away. There was little to no flavor changes except a more dominant nut flavor after the first 1/3. There was nearly no spice at all until the 3/3 where the spice really picked up through the nose. Nothing on the lips or pallette though. I only smoked it about 1/2" past this point, just because it was cold outside and the smoke was kinda boring. Just as with most other MAc cigars, it is overpriced for what you get, but it is a decent smoke. The aftertaste wasn't terrible and didnt leave me wanting to brush my teeth immediately. I'd smoke more, but they really need to come down on price with these things!

thanks for the review!

I ALLLLmost picked up one of these the other day, just because I bash on Macs but have never "had the pleasure". But I just couldn't bring myself to drop 6-8 bucks for one

I'd be much more likely to give em a try at 3-4 bucks

I'd LOVE to have another of those - the Ronson, that is.

A very nice review, albeit of a smoke that I won't be repeating anytime soon.

Thanks for the review - You might want to try the macanudo "robust" line. They have a lot more flavor than the maduro or connecticut macanudo.

hmmm...I'll have to do that. I had a 1968 a couple months ago and I liked it a lot more than the HP.

I used to smoke the HPs all the time when I first started smoking cigars. Now they taste like paper to me.
