Humidity/Temp Combos

I was thinking about purchasing a Liebherr cigar humidor and was thinking about if there are different humidity/temp combinations to encourage a certain type of smoke.

Considering an environment to encourage aging as opposed to smoking and vice versa.

Any recommends?

Most people feel that lower humidity is preferable for the aging process, with somewhat higher humidity for cigars to be smoked sooner.

Personally, I use 62% for both, I like the way my cigars taste and burn at that humidity (these are Cuban cigars, for the record). If you ask 20 people, you are likely to get at least 10 different opinions though, so sometimes it is best to find out through experimentation what works best for you.

I don't stress temperature at all as long as I keep it at 70*F or below.

Hope that helps, I am sure you will get other opinions. Also, my low humidity levels might not be as applicable to NC cigars according to many people's thoughts.

I'll say this the Liebherr is BeeeUteTEEEfullll!!!! But for what is it $1500-2000 I would rather have two or three Edgestars and several boxes of smokes.

ya i know but i want something that looks appealing on the bar counter and that fits the bill.

I have tried different humidity levels in 2 humidors. My first thought was... I need to levae it around 70%. I found out that 70% & above is too much & the cigars get too wet & start to fall apart. So, I tried lowering it to below 60% to around 50% - 55%, I found this to be too dry and the cigars didn't burn as well. The optimal humidity level I found was 60 - 65%. I frequently maintain my humidor by checking the Orleanes Gel jars. Hope this helps

For my money that would be the ticket. The Vinos/Edgestars have too short a lifespan for my liking.

I second the suggestion on the Edgestar 28! With Chasidor Cocobolo drawers it will look like the dash of a RR Phantom!

Seems you have two questions kind of. My first answer is like Tom I keep my cab at 62% humidity and 60 degrees (mostly because beatles supposidely don't hatch at that temp). My cigars, also mostly cuban, smoke great at these points.

I also struggled with getting a "beautiful" cabinent, but in the end I chose to take the plunge. I have been happy with and pround of my purchase. Tho if I were going to spend $2,000 I'd look at an Aristocrat.
