Default Cleaning windows....

Good morning all, I work at a local cigar shop and have a helluva time cleaning the windows in the shop. I know that a film develops on the windows from the smoke and makes them difficult to clean. Through your years of smoking have any fellow BOTL's came up with magic tricks in cleaning windows aside from just a little elbow grease and rubbing alcohol? Any suggestions will be welcomed!! Thanks.

Sprayway glass cleaner. It's the only glass cleaner I've ever used that doesn't streak or leave a film.

An old remedy I still use is newspaper instead of a papertowel. Works like a charm on the glass coffee table.

I'll give it a shot. Sold at Lowe's, Home Depot?

Funny you mentioned this. I have seen this tactic utilized before with amazing results. Good thing the local newspaper isn't worth reading!

A good friend of mine owns a rental car company and he has designated "ok to smoke in" vehicles and they use concentrated automotive glass cleaner that is mixed about 30% stronger in spray bottles to clean the smoke film off of the windows. He buys from one of those rolling industry supply chemical trucks that goes around to all the detail shops, garages, car washes, etc, like the Snap-On tool trucks, but you can go to an automotive parts store and get basically the same thing, maybe just not as strong. You want the one that would normally be diluted and added to the windshield wiper reservoir, not the premix.

Another one that should work is straight white vinegar in a spray bottle and clean newsprint paper. You can get clean (unprinted) newsprint paper at a moving company or maybe a supply store for crafts or packing.

In addition to the solutions and newspaper mentioned, I find microfiber cloths to be amazing for streak free cleaning of glass.

Yeah forgot about that, sprayway is great stuff.

Not sure if you'll find it at Home Depot, their website lists it as "web only"

Any glass shop should have it though.

Good idea! I use them to remove wax off my truck so you would think it would do the same on windows. Thanks!

Thanks Adam. I've seen that in some store here locally so I guess it time to go searching! Ugh I really hate shopping!

sprayway is available at Sams and costco for cheap.
I have used it for quite a few years, and bang for the buck and convenience? Winner.

Yup, cheapest there. I think I've seen it at places like Ace Hardware, Home Depot etc. too, and it's available online from Amazon and the like.

I use hot water, vinegar and a squeegee. It does a good job around the house. Good luck!

Simple Green and water. Newspaper works well also, just gets your hands dirty.

Thanks for all the recommendations guys!

I actually ended up using a microfiber cloth and some Misty's Heavy Duty Glass Cleaner. Fantastic results. A case of 12 can be had for $25. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for streak free glass cleaner looking to remove smoke film off of windows.
