Is an oust fan really needed in a 40-50 qt cooler? I thought that was mainly for the giants (like 100, 120qt, etc). If so I may pick one or two up myself, but frankly I'd rather have the storage space.

Nope. They don't even need to be in a 120qt cooler. Gives folks peace of mind, I reckon.

The Rh of the air in the cooler is totally irrelevant. What matters is the Rh of your cigars. Place a hygrometer in a half empty box, if the cooler has stabilized and reached equilibrium it should read the same Rh as your beads. Also remember that there is random error to take into consideration. Even a calibrated hygrometer will have a +- error rate of 1-2%. The hygrometers we use are very basic. Check out the +- on this $1800 hygrometer. http://www.tequipment.net/HartScientific1620.html Fans are not necessary, just relax its not that big of a deal. |
