Any car salesmen?
Curious, I know car dealers don't want the cars on their lots for a long period of time cause they have to pay taxes. What kind of turnaround do used car dealers usually look for.
I am trying to buy a car from carmax and they are playing the 'we don't haggle' crap...but they freaking call me everyday, and I tell them the same thing. I am waiting till you either sell the car to someone else or drop the price. Buying cars infuriates me!

I know what you're talking about.... car salesmen drive me apesh!t. I would suggest telling them to stop calling you everyday and to only call when they have lowered the price of the vehicle.
Times are tough right now and I'm sure that salesman is itching to make that sale. Gotta ask, what's the vehicle? |

Check the price at www.kbb.com if it's priced right and you like it then buy it. If it's not then make them a take it or leave it offer. (I've been working for a car dealer for 30 years. Not as a salesman

Re: Any car salesmen?
Carmax drops their prices too around $1500 to $2000 profit margin.
They only give dealer tradein on the car. Pull the NADA value of the vehicle. This will be lower than the KBB. If the car is priced in that range they are unlikely to budge unless their lot is crammed full with more vehicles on the way. Like the other posts look at the value and make and offer. If they turn it down then tell them to stop calling and go to the next. You will also find that if you go to the next Carmax even though they say the inventory is shared, some managers are more willing to move cars if their numbers are coming up short that month, always buy in the last few days of the mionth when they are desperate to make their quotas. And be able to pay in cash if at all possible. I hate buying cars as well, about as much fun as the dentist IMHO. Lensjockie |

Re: Any car salesmen?
I have to say we just got the wife a new car. The experience was nothing like I have ever had at dealerships. All were friendly, no hard sells types, no BS from the "tower", and listened to what I had to say. Sorta pissed me off, I was all geared up for a battle. I hate buying cars, nothing about it do I like from the test drive, the hunt, financing, etc. Very smooth this time around.... And from all types of dealerships.
21st century, maybe they are learning not to piss on the customer.....

Nothing special Hal, an 05 Jetta GLI. I want to get into autocross and it seems like something I can drive to work with and toy with also.
