The tsetse fly plants their eggs on host animals (normally bovine) and the larva grows and feeds on the hosts body...could be some species like that. I saw once where a guy had 5 tsetse flys growing in his scalp...and the magots were FREAKING HUGE!

I think you nailed it with the bot fly. It looked pretty much just like this example but with a bigger lump. *** shiver *** freaking nasty.
