Sure it's possible. Shoot - people even smoked banana peels when I was in college.

I am a terrible example but I would say (to my wife), "Well I never tried it myself, my dear, my sweet Mrs. Moo. Please! Let me get you a pipe, some matches and a cigar. Oh... and where's the video camera? I'd really like to save the moment for the generations to come." And then she would pour coffee in my lap.

Keep us posted on your experiments. WTH? I just put a fine pipestem in ketchup overnight (no - it didn't remove oxidation) to no avail. No guts, no glory.
