DPG Series JJ Maduro
Won a contest awhile back from Scott (Shilala) and one of the cigars was a Don Pepin Garcia Series JJ Maduro. I am Sitting on the back deck right now and am a little more than a third of the way through this cigar. My impression of this cigar so far is holy **** this is a good smoke.
Appearance- Really nice dark wrapper with very little veins 9/10 Draw- Slight pull 8.5/10 Flavor- Getting some cocoa, slight spicy notes 8/10 Burn- Pretty damn even so far 8/10 Really like this cigar so far. If the rest of the cigar is as good as the first 3rd I would not hesitate to buy a few of these babies to have on hand.

They take about 8 months to get good. A year to get REAL good.
When they are "on", there's no better cigar in the world, imho. I've had some that weren't all that, but if I had to pick the best cigar I ever smoked, it'd be a JJ maduro. Thanks for the review!!!

Re: DPG Series JJ Maduro
wow, what a great cigar. Tons of thick grey smoke reminiscent of a good cuban, great flavor profile throughout. Solid 8.5/10 and would highly recommend this to anyone.

Re: DPG Series JJ Maduro
I know I've smoked a JJ but can't remember it. I love the Pepin Blue, hate Pepin Black, but I can't remember what a JJ taste like. Is it pure pepper and spice like the Black or does it have some sweetness along w/ the pepper like the Blue?

When I smoke a JJ white, it's so much the same as the maduro, but I keep thinking "where's the rest of the sweet?" They're good though.

I just bought a new box of beli's last week cause I was running low and it takes them so long to get "right". Most guys like the sublimes. I like the Beli's the most because they seem to get the best of the bunch. The robusto can be incredibly good, too.

This is one of my favorites as well...I don't think it tastes like a blue at all. It has a sweetness profile along with a ton of back end spice. I don't care for the DPG blues much, love the blacks, hate the regular JJ whites (no flavor). I have a bunch of the Cubaos but those just aren't for me either...will try the maduro when it hits.

Keep an eye out for DPG samplers too. They usually include the Series JJ Maduro.
