Honestly, I'll go see it on Wednesday, and probably go see it again once it opens at the IMAX - think they are opening a week, maybe two later, because of Transformers. So I'm not so concerned with the noise level.

the last movie was even better in Imax..especially the last 10 min of HP that were in 3D

Being that it is my favorite book of the series, I would love to go see it, but the Wifey working nights, chances of me finding a sitter to watch the boy, looks like I'll be waiting for the DVD again
I just hope that it doesn't detract from the book too much

Overall, I don't think the films have detracted from the books much at all. A few differences, but nothing major. A two hour film just doesn't have enough time to cover all the things that happen in the novels (especially the latter three novels). I'm a fan of both the novels and the films.
