Give a FOG some advice
Ok all you pipe suggers, Give a FOG some advise here,
20 years ago I dabbled in pipe smoking, Won't tell you what I smoked cause' most of you would yak at the thought of it ( I smoke King Edward cigars back then ) I've been a big time smoker for 30+ years, And still smoke cigarettes as well ( Roll my own ) I'm thinking of pipe smoking again to cut back even further on the cigarettes I smoke but 30 years of smoking, Coffee and Bourbon has deadend the ol' taste buds, I like STRONG! So what should I look for in the way of pipe tobacco? I'm also CHEAP ...

This is about the strongest and most inviting leaf to cigar/cig smokers IMO. Look for an english blend.

Re: Give a FOG some advise
I've tried a few of the aromatics, but there all tooty fruity... if you want something stronger the English blends I've tried might be more to your liking, as far as I know, which is very little, English Blends means no artifical flavors have been added, this may be more inline with what your looking for, a straight tabacco, and they do taste better than they smell.
Hey good luck with those cigarettes, I put em down about a month ago, one word Chantix, worked for me.....so far. Last edited by Dgar; 10-28-2008 at 05:19 PM. Reason: *** |

Re: Give a FOG some advise
I would also recommend English and Balkan blends. If you want a straight up powerful tobacco I highly recommend Peterson's Irish Flake. It is an awesome smoke.

Re: Give a FOG some advise
If you really want some of the strongest blends out there, you'll need to start with the Samuel Gawith & Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Tobaccos. They are some of the strongest available!
The following are all Samuel Gawith & Gawith, Hoggarth & Co: Samuel Gawith - 1792 Flake – Spicy & strong! Samuel Gawith - Black Pigtail – This one can do permanent damage! Samuel Gawith - Brown Pigtail – Same as above! Samuel Gawith – Black XX Rope - This will rock your boat! Samuel Gawith – Black XXX Rope – Strictly crash & burn! Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. - Coniston Cut Plug – Very full flavored & strong! Gawith, Hoggarth & Co - Brown Irish Twist – Very addictive & killer strong! Gawith, Hoggarth & Co - Dark Birdseye – A great smoke. This one will sneak up on you and hurt you! Gawith, Hoggarth & Co - Dark Plug – One of the best – Very strong & tasty! Here are a few others: Kendal Curly Cut Kendal Best Brown Flake Grouse-Moor 1792 Flake Squadron Leader Full Virginia Flake and Scotch Cut Mixture

If you want flavor then try C&D black frigate, It smells like your burning a cat but it has flavor, or Mississippi mud from C&D

You can buy C & D blends very reasonable online...............http://http://www.4noggins.com/cornellanddiehlbulktobacco.aspx
Billy Budd and Night Train are 2 favs of mine that are on the strong end of the spectrum. Night Train is loaded with Perique and Billy Budd with Latkia, both unique and flavorfull blends IMHO.
