The Xbox will be cheaper in the short run, but you're gonna have to pay ~40 - 50$ a year for multiplayer. PS3 is free.

We wont get into the 360 vs ps3 debate, but you have to admit that "alot" more people play multiplayer on live than they do on the ps3 system. Plus the games available for the 360 way out number ps3.
