I used Coors Light. I don't think it matters what type of beer you use, but using a dark beer for this recipe sounds tasty.

I have made it several times and have always used a lighter (but not light) beer like budweiser. IMHO i think dark beer would take away from the sweet taste or at least cover up the sweet taste.
I normally enjoy beer bread with a nice bowl of home made chili with tabasco sauce
