I used to have a couple of that exact model set up. They're a good unit, but it's so dry where I live I had some trouble maintaining humidity during certain times of the year. You should like it.
Now the wife uses them to store wine. Go figure.

If you find that it's running cooler than you like just put it on a cheap mechanical outlet timer so it shuts off as needed. I do that with my EdgeStar to keep it at 65.

Will any wine cooler work as long as it is thermoelectric?

This one at Lowes is nice http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...2GB&lpage=none[/QUOTE I have a different opinion than everyone else on this. I think the only time it really matters is if you're storing your cigars in an extreme environment. Say you keep them in the garage in a compressor unit then you might have a problem in the summer. My very first cooler was a 47 bottle compressor and I have it to this day still in service. It's rock solid and stays at 65%. With most folks keeping their homes below 75 degrees the compressor wont kick on that much. Now there is a slight dip in humidity when it comes on but if you load it up with beads and cedar boxes then you won't have any issues. Last edited by bigswol2; 10-24-2008 at 02:51 PM. |
