Here is a way to turn off some of the new features, including returning the tabs to where they belong

I feel like the first kid on my block with the new toy thanks to your PM yesterday.
This thing is neat.
I really like it.
Gives Safari an iPod look.
Thing is fast, no doubt.

How do you actually make the changes? I've never used terminal before and it's giving me errors that the commands aren't being found.

Remove the $ at the beginning of the string. Terminal automatically starts with a $.
