Has anyone ever tried to dry their blade after shaving with a hair dryer or something? I have heard from a few people that this prolongs the life of your razor by quite a bit (this is regarding normal Gillette etc. type razors)

The silly five blade gillette, though I do have an electric for emergencies. Which have been few and far between cause I just let my beard grow out lol.

I don't shave, it takes too much time. And by the time I have to (wedding or getting facial hair caught in car doors) I need some clippers and then a 3 blade Gillette.

Due to a lack of testosterone (or whatever) I only have to do it once every week so I use a cheap Fusion razor. However, if I'm feeling really cheap, sandpaper tends to do the trick.

I cleanse with Cetafil Daily Cleanser, Nice helping of Edge for sensitive, One stroke with grain, one against with a Mach3. Followup with a nice astringent. My wife has trained me to "man shave", but I won't go there. I know, TMI.

Nivea shave gel, Mach 3, and some aftershave lotion that I can't remember. The bottle is orange though. Anyone else have that one spot on their neck that you tear the hell out of? Can't figure out how to keep it from happening, other than changing the blade everyday.

Right now my favorite combination is my Merkur 38c with a red box Personna and some Proraso or Taylors cream. I also have a;
Fatboy Blue tip SS Gillette lady and a Everready GEM and 5 or six other cream and soaps |

I was gifted a 4-blade battery-vibrating wunderazor and enough blades to last two years (this was about two years ago). I used that with Mary Kay for-men shaving cream and was pretty happy with it.
I recently switched to working out in a gym in the evening, so I'd shower post-workout instead of in the morning. Since making that switch my wife bought me a three-round-head electric razor and I'm getting used to it. Makes the morning routine much faster! When I'm staying in the barracks during a WWII reenactment I used a 1940's style double-blade razor, brush, cup, etc. All work fine for me. My skin is made out of the same stuff they make golf balls out of... |

Rarely.
Seriously, the best shave I can get at home is with the Merkur safety razor but even that leaves tons of ingrown hairs. I'm just going to get a beard trimmer. |

I'm a wetshaver...I try to do a proper hydration before lathering up. I don't use a pre shove, tho I've tried them.
I was using a straight razor. My spine goes into spasm at times and I started to cut myself too often to continue with the straight. I find this modern razor the best , just a squige under the straight...but no cutting. After I scrape the hair off I use and alum block, after shave cream then an edt of some sort. Here's what I use today. I love the scuttle. Keeps the lather nice and warm throughout the shave. Cream or sopa. I'm using Mitchells Wool Fat at home this week. I love the Shave Den Lavender and Tea Tree cream. ![]() Here's a typical setup when I was cutting away at myself hahahahaha ![]() I do miss the stropping. I enjoy my shaves, usually. Tom |

Thanks for the great pics. The scuttle looks interesting. I've never seen one before.
