Default Re: Life Insurance

If your sole reason for life insurance is to pay for your burial, you can alternately choose to prepay all your burial expenses - basically a burial policy. My dad had a plan to pay for all his funeral expenses by making monthly payments. If he died before the plan was fully paid, the plan automatically paid itself off. Unfortunately he beat the system and died early, sticking the plan with most of his final expenses. He essentially won by losing.

Personally all our final expenses are paid for, and I've never carried life insurance outside of what my employers offered me. Never saw the need. But if I go to the great beyond tomorrow, I'll go knowing my wife is well provided for. If that wasn't the case, I definitely would have considered life insurance.

My life insurance will cover burial expenses but also leave my wife enough to be comfortable as well.
