Question Snow Blowers - Need Suggestions

I may need to buy a snow blower. Outside of actually doing the job, I want it be small. Garage space is tight. My driveway is about 800 sq ft. Lowes had several options 1K or less.

What do you recommend?

Opinions will vary, but I've always owned Ariens Snowblowers with great success. I bought my first Ariens 15 years ago. Never had any issues, only regular maintenance. I just gave that one to my brother and I bought another one. I live in Central Connecticut and get 80 plus inches of snow a year on the average. Currently, I use an Ariens Professional series to do my 200' long driveway, but I would imagine that the Ariens Compact series would be sufficient for an 800 sq. ft driveway.

Definitely 2-stage with electric start. Avoid plastic components like the throw chute. Dollar for dollar get the largest impeller diameter you can with a horsepower rating between 5-8. Craftsman used to make a nice 524 blower (5 hp, 24" cut). But for sure electric start, 2-stage. Nice Corgi btw; ours is 12 yrs old.

I also own an Ariens. It is about 12 years old but is a workhorse.

What is this "snow" you speak of, and why must it be blown?

When I lived in Boston I had an Ariens as well, had it for 3 years and gave it to my brother when I moved, 13yrs later he is still using it. I had about a 240' drive up a slope and it powered right through.

Only snow blower I've ever owned, Toro 826. It's been great and I'd recommend it to anyone.
