Does that mean UPS utilizes trains? When I worked for them, we did unload 'rail boxes' so maybe they do. Or did the train derailment just delay the package leaving. Very interesting.

UPS and USPS both ship a large number of packages by rail, typically in trailers on flat cars. It's not unusual to see entire trains of UPS trailers crossing the country.
Also, Bakersfield is a major rail gateway to and from the LA basin. |

I've seen that one before. IIRC, it doesn't necessarily mean your package was on the derailed train, just that a derailment has occurred and is delaying that line.
