Correct Peter, you can "share" it though (and your friends will see it) and more people could like it.

Shared, but they have to click the photo and like it there, I dont think liking the share will add to the photos likes

This is correct. If you share it, they still have to click the actual photo and then like it at the source page, which is "The Pink Pelican."
