I agree. I've owned 3 Fords and 2 GMCs and my 2 Tototas were the best trucks by far. My 1986 I bought for $800 with 275 K miles. I drove it for a year and sold it for $1500 and it was running perfectly. Just saw the guy the other day and he still drives it daily and has over 400 K. My '99 Tacoma is the one I miss the most, perfect vehicle but sold it a while back for my GMC 1500 w/t because of my need to haul lumber. I miss that Tacoma. All the other trucks I've had a host of problems, with that GMC being the worst.

I'll grant you fit and finish on the japanese trucks -- and maybe even overall "quality" -- but not longevity. If you maintain a Ford or Chevy full size truck it'll pretty much go forever in my experience. Small trucks are different. Rangers / S10s are crap compared to the old Toyota SR5(?) pickups.
