I break for Cubans
|
Bargain sticks!
I've been away from the forum for a while but that doesn't mean I haven't been smoking my face off!
While I love a good Cuban or a nice Padron I have been lucky enough to find some amazing cigar values and just wanted to share a few with you. About 5 years ago I placed my first order with Atlantic Cigar and took the opportunity to buy & try samplers, 5 packs, 3 packs and singles as well as "Bundles' which often allow you to get 25 sticks for the already low price of 20. My top 5 Non-Cuban Values are: J. Fuego 777 Triple Maduro Belicosa $70.50 / Bundle of 25 Mad value for a "knock your socks off" Maduro (be careful to dry-box for a few days as triple mads hold a lot of moisture) J. Fuego Delirium Belicosa $97.99 / Bundle of 25 The cow-barn smell of this unlit stick gives way to wonderful full-bodied flavor and burns like a champ. La Aroma de Cuba New Blend Robusto $117 / Box of 25 (often cheaper on sale) Rich, heady smoke that has the nicest burn you'll ever see and tasty to a nub (I'm on my 3rd box in 2 years) Carlos Torano Virtuoso Gordo $105.99 / Box of $25 Another treat for those who like full-bodied cigars at a little over $4 per (and sometimes on sale for even less) Don Pepin Garcia Blue Label Exquisitos (Around $110 for a box of 25) All the flavor and quality of the much pricier "My Fatther" at a lower price point. Those are just a few of my faves and if you like Maduros and cigars that have a great peppery kick you cannot go wrong with the J. Fuego 777 ($2.82 per stick makes it my #1 Value pick) Love to hear your low-dough faves! Wayne

The Blue and Black label are both good smokes for the money. I store them at 70 F and about 54-65%. I always buy the Rousto and have to compare them to MF of the same vitola.

I realize you may not be able to get them up there in Canada, as I don't believe JRs will ship that far North, but their JR Ultimate line offers a wide variety of vitolas in many wrappers, including maduro (AND a few oscuro too), all of which offer a premium smoke for an affordable price. I've smoked a ton of them, and have rarely been disappointed. In fact, I think I'll go have a maduro Habanito right now! See ya!

Re: Bargain sticks!
Interesting! When I think bargain sticks, I am certainly not thinking anything over $100. In fact, when I think of bargain sticks, I think of less than $80 per box (20-25).
Here is a partial list of cigars I really enjoy, in fact, I'd put these up there with many other cigars at twice, or thrice the price. (The Bricks may not be quite the same quality, but their price is also quite a bit less. A very decent stick for the cost though.) Arturo Fuente Chateau Fuente (20 in SG, Mad., or Nat.) $80 El Rey del Mundo Robusto (20) $67 El Rey del Mundo Robusto Larga (20) $80 Omar Ortez Original Robusto (25) $64 (have to buy a box of 60 to get that price for 25 Punch Rothschild (25) $79 Cain Daytona No. 4 (24) $77 The Brick Robusto (25) $55 The Brick Torpedo or Churchill (25) $57
