601 Black - My take on it - whats yours?
Just received a 601 Black on Monday from a PIF decided to try it today. So I just want to share with you what I think and see if I got it right.
Why not try reviewing a cigar for a change. I happen to like some great Cigars by Pepin but I think this one is not on my shopping list. The wrapper is a much lighter wrapper then I'm used to, I think it’s a Connecticut wrapper. The smell is great, it lit well, and burned well most of the time. It did go out once, not sure if it just went out or I got distracted on the phone for too long and didn't puff. The draw was pretty loose which I like but the smoke didn't leave a very strong aroma. Then the main thing that got me a little disappointed was for most of the time smoking it i just kept on feeling spicy spicy, spicy, that’s it. Until finally a little after half way through it did started feeling the Spice smoke and buzz, kick in. Not over done but fairly ok. Bottom line: Not very disappointed at the end, but it took a little to long for me to get some real flavor I think. I do have to say, I don’t enjoy a cigar that punches you right from the start but this one is just for the person that likes spicy I guess. Thanks for reading. |

601 Black is now 601 White from what I understand. That cigar had about 3 years of humidor time on it. I sent it to you because it is considered the mildest 601.

All the 601s are decent to great IMO. The old Black label was my least preferred of them, but still a decent cigar.

Thanks again by the way,
The quality wasn't the issue I was describing how it affected me. I guess its a spicy cigar. QUOTE=Dunkel;1687582]601 Black is now 601 White from what I understand. That cigar had about 3 years of humidor time on it. I sent it to you because it is considered the mildest 601.[/quote] |

I like the 601 Black and still have a few Churchill sizes left. I taste a little tannin, some cedar, and some black pepper. It's a good mid day cigar and burns well. It's probably my favorite cigar for when I want a milder smoke.

Probably my favorite Connecticut wrapped cigar. They have a bit more to them than your average Connie but definitely not an in your face cigar. I'm just about done with a box of rabito's from 2007 and have one more full box in the humi. There are a few other nice Connie cigars coming out of Nicaragua. Check out the oliva Connecticut reserve, the epc new wave, and the San lotano if you've never had them.

THIS was my favorite connie but it wasn't like your "typical" connie. Much more pepper than usual and some sweetness as well...not sure how the white label compares.

them. They were "Meh" at best. It was a totally different blend. They sold the Black Blend to a shop out in California, that made it their house stick. I've forgotten the name of the shop though. |
