Default Mist in my B&M Walk-in

Hey everyone. I moved into a new apartment about 2 months ago and am right down the street from a nice B&M. With mostly decent people working, and a great selection of sticks. I have however noticed that their cigars seem very wet.
Today I went in to pick up a few sticks and saw the humidifier working. It was spraying a mixture of vapor (Like out of a regular humidifier) and actual mist. Filling the entire 15 by 15 room. Is this normal for such a large space to have a humidifier release so much humidity at once?

I would probably hint something to the owner or someone who works there about it. Find some casual way of saying, "hey, why are these cigars so wet feeling?"

Is there a hygrometer somewhere in the walk in? I wonder how high the humidity is in there if the cigars are getting wet. I would assume it would make it a bit more humid.

Most of the stores in the area here have the same type of system and most sticks you will pickup from a B&M will be over humidified.

Just an FYI - I have seen these set wrong when they are initially installed and lets just say there was a sudden growth of "bloom" on all of the cigars under the device ....

Definitely look for a hygro in the walk-in and see what the humidity actually is. My local has several active humidifiers and when they go it does seem like a lot of moisture, but the overall humidity is only about 70%. Keep in mind that the more the door gets opened and people walk in and out the more you need to replace humidity. If the cigars actually feel wet that's a bad sign though.

I'll check out for a hydrometer. Just struck me how dense the moisture was.

Mist variety humidifiers are cheaper than quality evaporative humidifiers. They also do a much better job of adjusting the overall humidity for frequent "in and out " traffic, however they fail miserably at keeping cigars smokable because everything is WET. Basically it's a saturation device, which does the job of the several more expensive devices needed for evaporative. But because all of that humidity is released all at once, cigars closer to the device get soaked.

Properly tuned, they work relatively well, the key is setting multiple devices to gust at around 65% to prevent cigars from getting too wet.

Last time I went into JR's in North Carolina it was like a water park walking in there but that's also a very larger room. The smokes I picked up there seemed fine though.

i see it a lot at some B&M's down here. i just make sure to check the sticks a little closer than normal to make sure they aren't to wet or have mold.
