I am new to Scotch (about 2 months) but I've been a bourbon man for a while.
Blends - Chivas Regal 12 Dewar's 12 Single Malt - Bowmore Macallan 10 I will start to read this thread from the beginning. I am looking for something in the same sort of price range as the Bowmore that is a little more balanced. I had a bottle of Glenlivet in my hand the other day... |

I have tried some Glenfiddich 12, 15 and 18yr over the last few nights. Out of the 3 my Favorite was the 12yr. It had a saltyness that the others did not. I know the usual response is the older (more aged) the better, but for me in this instance it was not.

Ive always been a Chivas drinker and tried to stay away from the single malts simply because I'm afraid to spend a Benjamin and find out its crap
![]() I did buy a bottle of Speyburn 10 Year Old Single Malt to test the waters and it was very nice. Goes well with a good cigar and a full belly ![]() Chas |

![]() Just finished a bottle last week (gift, I only buy it once or twice a year). I have been told by others to just buy the 18 yr CR and stay away from the single malts so I don't know. Chas |

Don't limit yourself, but if you're not into malt whisky, then that's your personal preference. I have friends who love rye, but really don't like malt. I drink what I like and like what I drink, and try new stuff to expand my taste. |

I've always been a bourbon drinker, but my local cigar hangout usually has scotch instead, and the guys there have slowly have been converting me. My favorites so far are:
Dalwhinnie 15 Maclallan's 15 The Maclallan was very smooth, but I favored the Dalwhinnie with it's peppery taste on the first sip. I'm looking forward to trying many of the suggested whiskys in the thread, especially the peat or smoky flavored types. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
