Former N.C. State star forward Lorenzo Charles, best known for his last-second dunk off the 30-foot "pass/shot" from teammate Derek Wittenberg to beat the heavily-favored Phi Slamma Jamma of Houston for the 1983 NCAA Championship, was killed in a bus wreck on Interstate 40 in Raleigh. Charles, 47, followed his short professional career with one as a bus and limo driver in that area, and was well-known and well-liked by sports teams he chauffered at all the Triagle universities over the years.
Rest in peace, Lo-Rilla. We shall remember you every March, as we watch the famous clip of Jim Valvano running about the court in search of someone to hug. |

Whoah for a second there I thought Lorenzo Lamas died.
On a serious note it is a shame to lose anybody. I feel of his family and loved ones.
